The National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Matthew Uguru, has dismissed reports suggesting that any member of the party purchased expression of interest or nomination forms to challenge Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Uguru described the claims which were circulating on social media as false and misleading, insisting that the APC in Ebonyi State remains united and firmly committed to the governor’s reelection bid.
He stated this while addressing journalists shortly after the stakeholders of the Izzi clan reaffirmed their support for Governor Nwifuru and adopted him as their preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
According to him, there is no internal division within the party capable of producing a parallel governorship ambition against the sitting governor, stressing that the APC remains focused on consolidating its achievements in the state.
Uguru further maintained that Governor Nwifuru’s performance over the past three years had strengthened public confidence in his leadership, noting that ongoing infrastructural and human capital development across Ebonyi State justified calls for continuity.
He added that the party leadership at both state and national levels would continue to safeguard the unity and interests of APC, while ensuring overwhelming victory for all its candidates in the 2027 elections.
The APC chieftain also reiterated his personal support for the governor’s second term ambition, dismissing rumours that he had at any point obtained nomination forms to contest against him.
He urged party members and the public to disregard what he described as orchestrated misinformation aimed at creating unnecessary tension within the party.
