Former Federal Lawmaker, Chief Linus Okorie has cautioned, Mr Silas Joseph Onu, the immediate past Caretaker Publicity Secretary of the Ebonyi State Chapter of PDP over his outbursts against the Saturday's Congresses in the state which was not in his favour as the Chairmanship aspirant.
The PDP Chieftain in a statement made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, also advised Mr Silas Onu to stop speaking against the person of Senator Pius Anyim, the former Secretary to Government of the Federation, and other party leaders in a negative light, because of the outcome of the Congress, but to work together with the party officials to the party forward in the state.
He said Mr Silas Onu contested and lost the chairmanship position and was possibly reacting in the heat of passion.
Therefore, the former Rep-member, Okorie said that no one should take anything Onu says in that state very seriously.
"Let's remember that party Congresses are domestic matters, family affairs; so to say, and any misgivings are best addressed within the rules of the party; without undue publicity.
"However, it is important to clarify that the party constitution and guidelines were substantially complied with in the conduct of the various congresses held in Ebonyi state. It is not true, therefore, to allege otherwise.
"First, Silas Onu presented himself for the Congress, was present at the venue, interacted with the National Committee responsible and indeed presented an agent in the person of Hon Christian Usulor, who represented his interest all through the Congress proceedings.
"Two, accreditation of delegates was successfully carried out under the watch of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies and the media, an example of which is the case of Abakaliki local government area, cited by Silas. What he failed to report was that congress Committee members were assigned to the different local government areas to handle their accreditation so as to save time, manage the process more closely and ensure there was no manipulation by aspirants and their supporters.
"On the crude allegation against the person of Sen Anyim Pius Anyim, I find it entirely uncharitable of Silas, to make such immature insinuations. Is he implying that Sen Anyim is not qualified to run for President or that his unstated mission is to stop that ambition, if he had become the state chairman? It will shock the world to know that Sen Anyim was in the forefront of the push to make Silas Onu state chairman of the PDP in Ebonyi state; and Silas knows how and when he scored an own goal. More distasteful is his disdainful allusion to some fairytale EFCC investigation, as if any such situation were a judicial indictment or legal disqualification.
"The advise is for Silas Onu to act with more cautious decorum; taking a better hold of his disturbingly exuberant emotion and doubtful maturity.
"It is also being overly presumptive and self adulation for Silas to assume that no other aspirant is qualified for a public office, except himself. The party has laid out guidelines that guided all proceedings, and any one not qualified dropped off at each stage. Everyone that stood election at the congresses was legally qualified and and statutorily cleared by the relevant organs and Committees of the party.
"Finally, let me reiterate that while it is alright for Silas Joseph Onu to express his misgivings about any aspect of the congresses after his loss, it is not acceptable for him to run down leaders or attempt to create unnecessary disharmony between Anyim and Atiku, two national leaders that have been colleagues and friends, probably before he graduated from School. He should also place his faith in the internal mechanisms of the party without bringing it to undeserved public ridicule and opprobrium.
"For instance, he is yet to file any petition before the State Congresses Appeal Committee, which mandate it is to hear and decide on any misgivings about the congresses.
"I will still appeal to Silas Joseph Onu to sheath his swords and tow the path of a true party man, that he says he is. If he doesn’t get what he wants today, he may get something even bigger tomorrow.
"Let us all continue to work together for the peace, unity and harmony of both the party and the state," Chief Okorie stated.
