The Caretaker Chairman of Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria (MTUN) Ebonyi State Chapter, Mr Ekuma Nicholas has charged members of the union to desist totally from taking Mkpurummiri and other illicit drugs for the betterment of their lives.
He gave the charged while hosting the people on the 2021 end of the year party held in Abakaliki, the State capital.
The Chairman who observed the hiding dangers associated to such illicit drugs and damages it has caused among teaming youths, noted with dismay how youths engaged into such drugs.
Mr. Ekuma encouraged the people to be law abiding citizens, shun over drinking of alcohol,smoking of India hemp, recklessness among others to reduce road crashes in the State, adding that the union is made up of intelligent and knowledge people and should not be taking for granted.
He appreciated the State Governor Engr. David for giving them a level playground to operate and his infrastructural development scattered in all the nooks and crannies of the State while thanking members of the union for their unalloyed supports.
He noted that his leadership has united the people and security agencies very highly and promised to do all humanly possible in fighting for the course and welfare of the Union at all times.
He further advised the people never hesitate to return any forgotten items from their passengers, stressed the need for them to get their ticket as at when due for the growth of the union and also live harmoniously with their families in this yuletide while hammering on the importance for members of the union to massively register the ongoing INEC voter cards registration exercise to enable them vote for Nigeria presidency from Igbo extraction come 2023.
The State Financial Secretary of the Union, Mr. Sunday Origbo appreciated the chairman for the initiative saying it is the first of its kind in the State. He said they embarked on the ceremony to replicate the leadership style of Ebonyi State Governor Engr. David Umahi and admonished all the okada riders in the State to avoid applying road in the Night and carrying of 2 passengers and called on Ebonyi State Governor to capture them in his ongoing recruitment and empowerment exercise.
On behalf of the aged men who were relieved from buying tickets Mr. Lawrence Ekpe expressed joy over the new development and Prayed God to bless the members of the union for remembering them in that capacity.
A staunch member of the union Mr. Godwin Ucha expressed glad over the party as introduced by the Chairman and called every members of the union to queue into the exercise to promote the union.
Earlier, the State Prayer Coordinator of MTUN pastor Innocent Onyeka, enjoined the people to thank God in all their dealings and also respect Government to achieve a desire result.
The event witnessed award of free ticket to some elders and distribution of items to the people with higher tickets of the year.
