The Honorable Member Representing the good people of Izzi East Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Anthony Onyibe Nwegede on Friday celebrated with his constituents, distributed to them cash gift with over 100 phathoms of wrapper and bags of rice at his country home, Ndiogbu Ndieze Community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
He also warned youths in his constituency to abstain totally from the consumption of Mkpurummiri and other hard drugs as it has caused a lot damages among Nigerian youths and also for the betterment of their lives.
Nwegede who lamented at the rate of consumption of the illicit drugs among youths, advised them to invest every opportunity they have in life meaningfully than engaging in an unlawful practices for the good of their lives and the society.
The Lawmaker congratulated the State Governor, Engr. David Umahi and the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru for their doggedness and giant leadership strides in the State since the assumption of office and lauded his constituents for their unalloyed support since 2015, he was elected into power and pledged his continued interface with them at all times.
He said celebrating Christmas with his constituents as part of his campaign promises has been a traditional role and expressed his avowed determination never to relent in the exercise especially assisting the widows, less privileged and the downtrodden to improve their standard of living.
He tasked the people to massively participate the ongoing voter cards registration exercise in the State to vote an izzi Man to be the Governor of the State and to elect Governor David Umahi as the Nigeria President from Igbo extraction come 2023.
On their part, the former chairman of Izzi L.G.A Hon. Joseph Nwonumara and the executive Secretary of the Council Hon. Helen Aduga, all poured an encomiums to the Lawmaker saying he has distinguished himself among his equals. They described his philanthropic disposition in the Constituency as second to none and promised to continue to support him as he is a leader per excellent.
Earlier, the chairman of the occasion Hon. Simon Iseh appreciated Hon. Nwegede for celebrating Christmas with the people and encouraged members of the Constituency to keep supporting the lawmaker to attract more dividends of democracy in the area.
The supervisor of works in Izzi Local Government Area, Hon. Oliver Mbam, the legal aide to the lawmaker Brr. Nwoga Pius and former Technical Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Capital City Hon. Emeka Nwaji and the chairman of Onwa Oferekpe Foundation in Izzi LGA Hon. Nwankwegu Jeremiah, observed that the event has been an annual ritual since the Lawmaker took the mantle leadership of the Constituency and challenged other Lawmakers in the State House and at the National Assembly to emulate from him.
They revealed that the celebration of Christmas of the Lawmaker with his Constituents is a rare gift from God, adding that he has touched many lives especially the widows, less privileged ones in the society and many others.
Some of the beneficiaries including Ward Party Chairman, Mr. Emeka Nwankashi, Veronica Ofoke, Theresa Augustine, Obiya Charity, among others extolled the Lawmaker for identifying with them and prayed God to lift him higher in his political carriers.
Meanwhile the event attracted APC stalwarts from the Izzi Local government Area and beyond.
