Stakeholders and people of Ivo Local Government Area have commended Governor David Nweze Umahi and Chairman of the Council, Mr. Onyebuchi Ogbadu for their efforts which have culminated in the restoration of peace to parts of the area earlier ridden in crises.
The Stakeholders made the commendation during a meeting at the Ivo Council Headquarters, Ishiaka on Sunday.
In a seven point communique, the stakeholders appreciated the Governor for the manner he restored peace to crisis-ridden communities in the Council and also commended their Chairman for following the footsteps of Governor Umahi.
"That Ndi Ivo express their utmost gratitude to the our peace loving Governor His Excellency Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE who upon assumption of office in 2015 threw his hat in the ring and restored and sustained peace in the crisis ridden Ivo LGA which invariably is the peace we are enjoying till date.
"That we extol the exceptional leadership qualities of Hon. Onyebuchi O Ogbadu which was seen when he was the Akeze DC coordinator and finally exemplified in his frantic roles to restore peace in all the affected villages of Ishiagu Community which made the entire Ishiagu community to come together and bestow on him a prestigious title known as "OMEUDO 1 of ISHIAGU KINGDOM". Among other numerous peaceful initiatives."
The Stakeholders however, condemned the recent destruction of lives and properties in Akaeze by men of the underworld and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of Ebubeagu Security outfit in the Council.
"That we condemn in strong terms the avoidable and unnecessary destruction of lives and properties in Akeze Community by men of the underworld who were heavily paid to hijack a demonstration of the Youths of the community. Those in diaspora and outside the community spending heavily to destabilize the existing peace in the community should know that the law of karma is real as everyone gets what he/she deserves.
"That Ebube Agu Ivo Command has done tremendously well in securing the Area against dangerous invaders from other communities and containing the criminalities within the axis. Even as the said Ebube Agu Officials has submitted themselves to the police for the law to take its course, the uninformed but sponsored Youths through the help of invaders (arsonists) took the laws into their hands.
"That we again condemn in strong terms the misrepresentation of facts by people who sought to create their own version of the story either for political gains or to satisfy their paymasters. Even the media are not innocent of calumny campaign as they source their information through unreliable sources especially facebooks and in most cases has failed to balance their stories."
The Stakeholders also resolved to intensify sensitization of the people for continuous voter registration to enable them repay Governor Umahi for his love for them in the 2023 Presidential election.
"That we have resolved to improve the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) through a committee set up at the State, Local and Ward level."
