The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has won an Award for Outstanding Speaker of the Year 2022.
Nwifuru received the award from the Correspondents' Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ebonyi State Chapter in Abakaliki.
He has pledged to work in partnership with journalists to develop Ebonyi if he emerges the Governor of the State in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
The governorship candidate who is also the current Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly urged journalists in the State and across Nigeria to always discharge their responsibilities without fear or favour.
He said: “I am grateful to the People of the State and APC in particular, who have found me worthy to be the next Governor of the State under the APC platform.
“I thank the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for capturing me in their database as the only APC Gubernatorial Candidate in the State.”
He advised journalists to always balance their reportage to suit both the poor and the rich.
The State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Tony Nwizi, commended the Speaker for his excellent accomplishment at the Legislature.
Also, the State Chairman of Correspondents Chapel of NUJ, Mr Samson Nwafor, had earlier charged the Speaker to go on in making Laws that can benefit the Ebonyi people as he is doing already in his office.
