Ebonyi State Police Command said it would deploy at least 300 of its personnel for security coverage of the upcoming Ekiti gubernatorial election held on June 16 2022.

The State Commissioner for Police, CP Aliyu Garba made this known to journalists in Abakaliki, while decorating over forty-eight personnel who were recently promoted.
He urged the newly promoted officers to know that promotion comes with more responsibility.
The CP also informed the Command that the Inspector General of Police has directed that POS operators should not be allowed to operate within the vicinity of any police Divisions or formations to avoid the issue of extortion by the police personnel through POS centres as well as avoid criminals from penetrating the divisions or formations in the guise of business transaction.
He noted that the Inspector General of Police had approved the establishment of Electoral Desk officers that would help to facilitate the purpose of the Electoral Act, adding that all state commands are required to establish Electoral Desk officers through the collaboration of SCID with the intent of investigating Electoral offence to prosecute the Electoral violations.
Also speaking, the newly promoted officer Bashiru Haruna, expressed happiness stating that some of them have waited for the promotion for over seven years, adding that this new position would encourage him to work hard in keeping the rules and regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.
