A Candidate of the National Rescue Movement, NRM for the Ivo Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Joseph Okereke popularly known as Big-Joe has assured of robust education, empowerment and community developmental services if elected in the 2023 general elections.
Okereke made his agenda known while interacting with journalists at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium Abakaliki.
According to him, the empowerment of youths and students, grassroots development initiatives, community development services, security of lives and property and quality representation would be his priorities if elected in 2023.
The NRM candidate declared his interest in improving the students' welfare, assuring annual scholarships to the constituents especially the indigent ones throughout his tenure if elected in 2023.
He said at least before his first tenure ended, he would have sponsored 44 graduates in the university, with many students to benefit his bursary schemes and financial reliefs for their studies.
He said that his party, NRM is determined to rescue the Ebonyi people thereby ensuring a speedy reversal of all the unpleasant narratives heralded in the state.
The Ebonyi Assembly candidate expressed concern about the challenges facing the Ivo people, including no single bank for financial transactions, even when his constituency contributes over 30 per cent of the Ebonyi State's internally Generated Revenues, IGR.
He said many people from his constituency had lost their lives while travelling to Enugu, Okigwe and other areas for financial transactions in the bank.
Okereke however expressed optimism that his emergence in 2023 would put smiles on the faces of his constituents.
He pledged to embark on aggressive community development services to ensure at least a single bank institution is built in the Ivo State Constituency, saying it would bring employment opportunities to his constituents.
