Members of the Azunwopho Solidarity Forum (ASF) in Ebonyi State, have adopted Barrister Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi as their sole candidate for the Ebonyi North Senatorial position come to the 2023 polls.
The members of the forum through their National Coordinator, Comrade Vincent Nwogbodo said their decision was a result of Nwebonyi's humanitarian services to people especially the downtrodden in the state since given political appointment to date.
Comrade Nwogbodo noted that the forum has the privilege and audacity to convince every citizen to accept the candidacy of Nwebonyi following his posture, disposition and content of character as the 2023 polls gather momentum.
The notion according to the Coordinator, motivated the forum to embark on several research which on 1st January 2022 made its members confer on Nwebonyi with a Chieftaincy title - the Agu na Eche Ibe 1 of Azunwopho
Apart from the conferment, Nwogbodo said, the forum affirmed "that Onyekachi Nwebonyi from his disposition is so endowed with the personality to be responsible to occupy the Ebonyi North Senatorial Seat to address the yawning of the poor masses.
"He has been there for the poor masses since his days as the Coordinator of Mbeke Development Centre, which culminated in his elevation to the Ebonyi State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP before he was appointed the Commissioner for Capital City and Urban Development.
"His performance in those positions was outstanding, especially in making the city of Ebonyi state very serene and appreciable to be reckoned."
He added: "Azunwopho is now affirming his candidacy as the next Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District in 2023.
"We know him as a great philanthropist who has built many houses for the indigent widows.
"He remains our sole candidate come 2023, as the only viable, responsive and only thing the poor masses can lay hands on, as somebody who will come to their aids at any time.
"He has built houses for widows, and less privileged, and as we have it, God is following us, to endorse him as our sole candidate for a better society.
"Our conviction is a verifiable fact, Chief Barr Onyekachi Nwebonyi has given out 30 Corolla satisfying vehicles to different people in Ebonyi State. He has given out 500 motorcycles to Ebonyi youths without minding whose local government the person comes from. He has given financial assistance to over 5000 people both those under his scholarship foundation and the needy. He has rescued many people who have one security challenge and the other."
