Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, the 2023 Labour Party Candidate for the Abakaliki-Izzi Federal Constituency has identified a never-ending sharing and consumption instead of embarking on massive production as a major slight on Nigeria politics.
Ezeh made this observation in his felicitation message to the Izhi people during their 2022 New Yam Celebration popularly known as Ojiji Festival.
The Labour Party House of Representatives candidate described the Ojiji Festival as a new dawn of abundance after a night of painful endurance.
He explained that "the Ojiji Festival is significant in our culture and resonates with the resourcefulness of the Izhi man who embraces the farming season with a deep sense of passion and sacredness."
Ezeh noted that an average Izhi man lives by the culture of production, given this as, "the reason he would rather go hungry than encroach on yam-tubers already marked for seedlings."
This according to Ezeh, 'is so much in conformity with the Consumption-to-Production Mantra of the Obedient Movement presently sweeping across the country,' saying, "it is a major slight on our politics where people focus on sharing instead of Production," and maintained that "we must cultivate to consume."
He, however, assured of focusing on youth empowerment for maximum productivity and to be a strong voice to Abakaliki-Izzi Federal Constituency if he emerges a winner in the 2023 polls.
"This is why one of my foremost areas of interest has remained Youth Empowerment for Maximum Productivity.
"While being a strong voice for the people of Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, I shall also commit myself to advance the course of Fiscal Restructuring, Unicameral/Part-time Legislature, Productive Labour Reforms, People-centric Constitution Review and STEAM enabled Education System," he said.
He continued: "The era of moving fat cats to Abuja, who eventually become burdens on the system, must be done away with," stressing that the "politics must be for service and not for looting and wasting common patrimony."
"The people to send as representatives in Abuja ought to be those who have a proper understanding of what the job description entails. They must be wealth creators, not wealth wasters. Verify that they are not past contributors to our socio-economic development challenges."
"While we bask in the joy of the new yam festival, my challenge to the Obedience is to remain resolute in pushing to take back their country. You must speak out now and must do so in one strong voice.
"As the Ojiji festival ushers us into a new dawn of abundance after a painful period of endurance, we shall soon see a new era of leadership. A new kind of politics dedicated to the service of all.
"Happy Ojiji Festival all Izhi sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, especially the good people of in Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency."
