Coming close by the 2023 general elections, the Abuja Federal High has declined to disqualify the presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party, Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi respectively.
It could be recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had approached the Federal High Court, Abuja, accusing Messrs Obi and Tinubu of breaching the Electoral Act by naming placeholders as running mates.
While Tinubu named Alhaji Kabiru Masari, Obi chose Doyin Okupe in tentative capacity.
The duo had since replaced the candidates with Kashim Shettima (APC) and Datti-Baba Ahmed (Labour Party) respectively.
But the Court Judgment on Monday, Justice Donatus Okorowo held that the lawsuit by the opposition pursuing the disqualification of Tinubu and Obi from the 2023 president race was inadequate and incompetent.
“This suit qualifies as one which amounts to an abuse of court process," Justice Okorowo declared.
