The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Taraba State, Tuesday cancelled the gubernatorial primary election in which Senator Emmanuel Bwacha emerged as the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the 2023 polls.
Our correspondents report in his ruling, Justice Simon Amobeda ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh governorship primary in the state within two weeks.
The suit was filed by one of the governorship aspirants, David Sabo Kente.
The judge also ordered Bwacha, Senator representing Taraba South, to stop parading himself as the gubernatorial flagbearer of the APC and INEC to stop recognising Bwacha as a candidate.
Justice Amobeda argued that all the primary results can't have the same handwriting while the Returning Officer declared that no primary was held in the state at the police headquarters due to security threats.
Reacting to the judgment, counsels for the APC and sacked candidate stated that they will study the judgment before announcing their next line of action. - Politics Today.
