From Martins Chinonso Nwede
The only thing being used against Sen Sam Egwu by naysayers is that he is trying to go for 3rd term no one has gone through since the creation of Ebonyi State.
That age is against him and he should pave way for another to continue from where he stopped.
That he is not attracting Federal Jobs massively for the teaming of unemployed youths in Ebonyi North.
For emphasis; Sam Egwu may not be the best among the Federal Lawmakers from Ebonyi State, depending on the parameter and perspective you are using or used to assess him, but the glaring fact is that Sen Sam Egwu has towering Legislative scorecards. One will continue to doubt this until one has the opportunity to beam torchlight on his Achievements since 2015.
The situation in Ebonyi North presents us option to choose a tested and trusted personality over a personality characterized by thuggery, brutality and inhumane act. It presents us with the opportunity to choose competence over hooliganism. It presents us the opportunity to choose who understands political power and its use over one who sees political power as a tool to witch-hunt others.
Sen Dr Sam Egwu cannot be compared to any of the characters presently jostling for the post of Senate in Ebonyi North District. This is not praise but fact. Notwithstanding his possible flaws as a person, a rationale being will stomach his beef and Vote for Sen Dr Sam Egwu come 2023.
He is not attracting Federal Jobs massively?
Sen Dr Sam Egwu may not have attracted ted many federal jobs to his Constituents as expected but that doesn't mean that has not been attracting such jobs since 2015. He has been doing that but may not have equalled our expectations from him. We are not oblivion that the role of lawmakers is not connected to the provision of jobs but rather to Lawmaking and Oversight functions. However, due to the nature of our country where the system has turned everything upside down, thereby leaving a lawmaker with the stress of thinking about how to secure jobs instead of thinking out relevant bills to sponsor, Lawmakers, Egwu inclusive are now lobbying to get slots of job opportunities for their constituents aside statutory slots that may be given to them based on their position and which is infinitesimal.
Age is against him?
Sen Dr Sam Egwu is in his 60s and cannot be the oldest in the Senate House presently. No law states a particular age one should retire from active politics like in the case of Civil Service. One retires from politics when one is no longer mentally and physically sound. A look at Sen Dr Sam Egwu would convince you beyond reasonable doubt that he is mentally and physically balanced. Besides, lawmaking at the level of the Senate requires experience and experience comes with age.
It is on record, that among the former Governors in the Red Chamber, Sen Dr Sam Egwu is one of those that have more than 6 Bills to their credit between 2015-2019. That's for the first tenure alone. That of the second tenure is not yet counted. This is aside from motions of public urgent importance moved on the floor of the Senate to address some pertinent issues. This is the Hallmark of a Lawmaker. These bills are momentous bills that have addressed some issues.
Umunna m ndi Ebonyi North: We can't use excuses and choose bitter leaf juice when we have raw milk. Egwu has done very well in terms of attracting federal presence and development projects. His records are glaring but it appears he has been too quiet over those feats achieved.
Let's reelect Distinguished Sen Dr Sam Egwu come 2023 against all odds to consolidate his glaring efforts.
