From Victor Nwegede
As the 2023 general elections were getting closer, the Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Inter-party and Labour Matters, Comrade Mrs Jenifer Adibe-Nwafor pleaded with the contestants of different political parties to embrace the issue-based campaigns while soliciting the support of the electorate in the state.
Mrs Adibe-Nwafor who made this call yesterday in a press release commended the leadership of all registered political parties in Ebonyi for the peace witnessed in the state so far even as they struggle for their different positions both within and outside their party.
She said: "I strongly commend you for your successful primary elections and hope that those with issues to resolve would achieve Intra and inter-party peace and reconciliation.
"As the campaign kick starts with the Presidential and National Assembly members, the office of the SA on inter-party and labour Matters pleads for peace and understanding among contestants in different political parties.
"I plead for issues-based campaigns from contestants of different positions. We have many challenging issues in Nigeria and it would please the citizens to hear that our would-be leaders are aware of them and know the ways to solve them for the good of the country.
"Avoid politics of rancour. Avoid hate speeches and any form of words that would trigger a crisis.
"Remember, in a contest, only one person wins, therefore, prepare your mind for whatever comes out and be ready to work with whoever wins. While winners should be magnanimous with victory and carry everyone along.
"Nigeria is our own. Ebonyi our State let's unite to make it a peaceful place. Let's work in tandem with the policy direction of the peace-loving Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi to ensure that the lives and property of our people are safe as we campaign. Your supporters and fans should be properly guided."
