Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate, Engineer Sunday Andrew Opoke, has been assured of their support by the members of the Association of Izhi Medical Doctors.
The President of the association, Dr Chukwuemeka Ovuoba gave the assurance to Dr Opoke when consulted them on his 2023 gubernatorial ambition, Sunday in Abakaliki town.
Ovuoba commended Opoke's courage to contest the apex seat of the state, noting that based on his level of exposure, connectivities and expertise which had made him a water consultant to over six countries across the globe, the Izhi medical doctors would give him all the necessary support to ensure his 2023 gubernatorial race ends in praises.
Earlier, the YPP gubernatorial candidate, Dr Sunday Opoke had emphasized the indispensable nature of medical professionals and expressed enthusiasm to pay special attention to building and advancing the healthcare enterprises in Ebonyi, through partnership, training and retraining of the employed health workers, with the assurance that the health facilities would become a classic one in the state.
He noted that modern medical doctors even though are the advanced offshoots of traditional medicine practitioners, have been known for humanitarian roles, "because health is wealth, and nobody doesn't need a quality medication when the need arises."
The YPP governorship hopeful assured the medical doctors of their welfare and relevant engagement alongside their colleagues across the State indiscriminately, whereas the specialists in the medical fields would drive joy to carry out their professional roles in the state and beyond if he emerges as a governor in 2023.
According to him, "the sensitivity of your job as a medical doctor, demands consistent payment, not only to be getting a monthly salary but must be well paid.
"There's no part of the world, doctors do not need special attention on their salaries, and welfare to compare to other professions. But if I have spoken your minds, some of you are like if I can travel to Uganda, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.
"Our health system has collapsed, and it needs serious attention for the sake of our people's health. If you go to England, our medical doctors are doing extremely well. You go anywhere in the world, our doctors are rated the highest.
"But in our state, I don't know why the professionals like medical doctors are not allowed to develop our place.
"For instance, when I returned from England, I made a proposal to the Ebonyi State government on how to develop our water sector, but I don't know whether the proposal has been put in the dustbin.
"It's the same proposal that I was invited to Zambia, which the country recommended to Kenya. Then, Kenya recommended the proposal to Ethiopia, and other countries, whom I'm serving as their Water Consultant today.
"I laughed when I was accused of being sacked by the state government after resigning as the General Manager of the Ebonyi State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (EBRUWASA)."
The World Emerging Consultant in the Water Sector, Petroleum and Environmental Exploration, said his administration if emerged as governor in 2023 would prioritize the gospel revolution and wealth creation through industrialisation.
He also assured of civil service reform, standard education, quality health care, critical infrastructures, robust employment and empowerment through technology transfer, building a serene environment both at the capital city and hinterlands of the state by introducing rural-urban migration, giving digital tune in sports and entertainment industries, among others.
