The Governorship candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 general elections in Ebonyi State, Arc. Dr Edward Nkwegu has condemned "the attack on the Convoy of the Governorship candidate of APGA, Professor Benard Odo by the armed men suspected to be Ebubeagu at the look in the Izzi local government area of Ebonyi State."
Dr Nkwegu described the incident as wickedness and injurious to both people of the state and the opposition party.
According to him, it is disheartening and wrong for suspected armed agents of the Ebonyi state government to deny the opposition party from reaching out to its supporters across the state.
Dr Nkwegu also condemned the abduction, and illegal torture of the Ebonyi South Senatorial candidate of the labour party, Hon. Linus Okorie and frivolous allegations against him by the agent of the Ebonyi state government.
He said it is fortunate that Ebonyi state which is known for peaceful co-existence has turned to a state of abduction, killings, intimidation, war and a place where injustice thrives.
''In a democracy or electoral process, people freely make their choice of candidates they will vote in elections and not through violence and intimidation," he said.

He appealed to the Federal government and other relevant agencies to intervene.
Dr Nkwegu enjoined the founding fathers not to allow, selfish, and desperate individuals who hate peace and harmony to destroy the core values of the Ebonyi state over politics
On the rumours of being arrested, Dr Edward Nkwegu called on labour party supporters to disregard such report stressing that it is false, mischievous and unfounded.
''I am a peaceful man, I have no problem with anybody, my movement to Labour Party is divine and l will win next year's Governorship election," Nkwegu hinted.
