The Igbo apex socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has urged the Federal Government (FG) to use dialogue in settling the issue of Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).
The Secretary General of the association, Okechukwu Isiguzoro gave the urge in a statement made available to newsmen in Abakaliki.
Isiguzoro in the statement hinted that Ndigbo were ready and poised to 'bring' the IPOB leader to a dialogue with President Buhari.
"We assure you that this was a minimal protocol for genuine and lasting peace in the country.
"We assure the FG that some eminent Nigerian leaders are ready to bring Kanu to the table for profound dialogue.
"There should be an appetite for dialogue on the side of the FG but unfortunately they are yet to explore this option.
"This is the minimal protocol for genuine peace to return to Nigeria, especially in the south-east," he said.
Isiguzoro in the statement said that Nigerians are expecting the government's reactions now that Kanu has expressed his desire to participate in the dialogue.
"He has indicated interest to lead other southern agitators with eminent statesmen and patriots to heal Nigeria.
"The FG should know the mood of the nation and choose these openings to restore peace and security in the southeast.
"Igbo leaders are ready to help the FG hold Kanu to fulfil all treaties in the interests of national healing and reconciliation.
"Instead of appealing the appeal court judgement, the FG should opt for dialogue with a commitment to restore normalcy and end sit-at-home in the South-East.
"This will solve the hardship associated with restiveness in the southeast zone but appealing the judgment will fasten unpleasant errors that will not be favourable for Nigerians."
