The South East Governors have emphasized the need to uphold the virtues of the deceased President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Professor George Obiozor, which according to them included peace-building, cultural cohesion and development of the Igboland.
The governors while mourning the demise of Professor Obiozor, called the Igbo people to rise beyond this setback to achieve total peace, cultural cohesion and accelerated development in Igboland which were some of the virtues of the late President General.
They expressed their sympathy with the people and Government of Imo State as well as Ndigbo over Obiozor's death.
The Chairman of the South East Governors ' Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer David Nweze Umahi conveyed the condolences of the Forum when the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ebonyi State Chapter paid him a Christmas homage at his Uburu Country Home, Friday.
Umahi decried the demise of the experienceHistorian and administrator at a time the Igbos needed his wisdom most to surmount teething challenges.
"We have lost a cultural Leader who spent most of his life propagating the virtues of Ndigbo. We at the South East Governor's Forum are saddened and in mourning. It is our prayer that we rise beyond this setback to achieve total peace, cultural cohesion and accelerated development in Igboland which are some of the virtues Obiozor stood for," Umahi said.
Governor Umahi while praying to God to grant the departed rest in his bosom, enjoined the family and all those directly affected by his demise to uphold the transition amidst Godly assurance of resurrection.
A one-minute silence was observed in honour of the departed Professor Obiozor.
