The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has assured that his emergence at the 2023 polls would end the marginalisation of the Southeast region of Nigeria.
Atiku who gave the assurance Thursday, during the party’s presidential rally at the Pa Ngele Orunta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, said he would end the marginalisation of the region through dialogue with the Igbos leaders from the zone, and also promised to engage with the southeast people on the restructuring of the country.
Speaking on how to move the country forward, Atiku pledged to work with the Southeast people to end the agitations within the region.
He stated the need by his administration to listen to the demands and aspirations of the citizens of the country regardless of their regions, tribes or religions through a constructive dialogue to move the country forward.
The PDP presidential candidate expressed disappointment over the rising cases of insecurity, bad leadership and economic downfalls allegedly brought by the government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared that the Southeast region would glimpse a tremendous change if he emerges victorious at the 2023 polls.
He further expressed his readiness to reposition Nigeria by resuscitating the country's economy and ending its insecurity challenges.
Earlier, the National PDP Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, credited the achievements recorded in Ebonyi State to the excellent leadership of the PDP administrations.
Ayu, however, urged the Ebonyi people to continue to vote for the party's candidates to sustain the developmental strides in the state.
He commended the people for their massive turnout during the PDP rally and said that the party would fulfil all its campaign promises if emerged victorious at the 2023 polls.
Recall that the Ebonyi PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii said he would use his four-point agenda including accelerated economic development, human capital development and institutional reforms to transform the state.
The presidential rally witnessed a mammoth crowd with different personalities including all the present members of the National Assembly from the state who honoured the event.
