Ebonyi government under the watch of Governor David Umahi has lifted the embargo on the enthronement of traditional rulers in communities that have none across the state.
Governor Umahi announced this during the APC Local Government Rally in Isu, the Headquarters of Onicha Local Government Area, Saturday.
According to a release issued by the Governor's Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, the State Commissioner for the Local Government, Chieftaincy matters and Rural Development, Chief Donatus Njoku was directed to immediately kickstart plans to ensure seamless exercises in the state.
On the alleged candidature of an Onicha Local Government son in another party to be his successor, Governor Umahi said, "This is the Local Government of the boy that says he has the ticket of PDP in Ebonyi State and this is humiliating. I am telling all the parties including the PDP not to put money in Ebonyi State because they will lose the deposit, we are in charge.
"The killings here must stop, you are vying for this or that does not mean you have to kill your brothers and sisters," however, warned that general curses will follow perpetrators of those killings in the state.
Umahi assured the Onicha people that he would work hard to ensure the elevation of the Federal College of Education in Isu to a University if he is elected as Senator in the February National Assembly election.
The Wife of the Governor, Mrs Rachel Umahi appealed to the people to uphold the existing charter of equity by voting for Chief Francis Nwifuru and other Candidates of the APC in the forthcoming elections.
"In 2015, the Abakaliki people supported us, they sent their Kings and Queens to support us, this is the time to pay them back and by the crowd here, I am sure we are ready to pay them back.
"Let us not mortgage our chances in the future, ndi South, let us support the Ebonyi North people so that within another 16 years, it will be our turn again."
The APC Governorship Flagbearer, Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru pledged to accord the Onicha people pride of place if elected Governor on March 11, Governorship election in the State.
The Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, Mr Chidiebere Agwu, Professor Okorie Ani, Chief Donatus Njoku, Professor Chigozie Ogbu, Mrs Chinyere Nwanoke, Mr Chika Nwangele, Mrs Elizabeth Onwe among others assured that Onicha people would leave no stone unturned to ensure comprehensive victory for APC in the forthcoming general elections.
The Candidate of APC for Ohanivo Federal Constituency, Chief Felix Igboke while soliciting the votes of the people assured them of fruitful representation at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
The National Treasurer of APC, Chief Matthew Uguru, Director General of Divine Mandate Campaign Council, Chief Austin Umahi, the Director General of Women Wing, Mrs Catherine Ogbu and the State Chairman of APC, Chief Stanley Emegha urged the Onicha people to vote for Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru for Governorship in the interest of equity, justice and fairness assuring that they would not regret their actions.
Traditional Rulers of Onicha Local later blessed and adopted the Governorship Candidate and other Candidates of APC from the Zone in the forthcoming general elections.
