...Describes Anyichuks as a child of destiny
First Executive Governor of Ebonyi State and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Dr Sam Ominyi Egwu on Wednesday described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the party to beat in the forthcoming 2023 polls in the state.
"In 2023, PDP will come back to power in Ebonyi and even at the centre" Egwu made this declaration during the PDP rally at Ndulo Ukwagba in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He said, no other party except the PDP that had been winning elections in Ebonyi State since Nigeria returned to democracy.
Egwu deported the alleged comment by the State Governor, David Umahi that he pleaded with the people of Ebonyi North Senatorial District to vote for him before he emerged as Senator for two terms.
The Senator said the PDP has been celebrating the defection of Governor David Umahi to the APC because his alleged anti-democratic actions would have led to the downfall of the party in the forthcoming elections in the state.
He further described APC as a bad market at both the State and the national levels, maintaining that the defection of Governor David Umahi from the PDP to the APC has become a great blessing to the PDP family.
Soliciting massive votes for the PDP candidates by the Ebonyi people, Senator Egwu, expressed confidence in the party's gubernatorial candidate in the state, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii (Anyichuks) whom he described as a child of destiny.
"Anyichuks never wanted to be governor, I stood for Ebonyi North but it didn’t work, and now he emerge after several court cases, and as a party faithful we are bound to support the party, we believe that he will not disappoint them.” Senator Egwu said.
Recall that the 2023 PDP governorship hopeful, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii pledged to restore lasting peace in the Ohaukwu Council Area if emerged victorious in the 11th March guber poll.
Our correspondent gathered that the said Ohaukwu Council Area has been devastated by a communal war between Ezza and Effium people leading to many loss of lives and property in the district.
Odii recalled his financial assistance, scholarships and the houses he built for the people before his present governorship aspiration in the state.
The PDP governorship Candidate pledged to do more and to restore peace to the war-torn communities in the state if elected as governor in 2023.
Victor Nwegede, Abakaliki.
