...Solicits massive votes for Peter Obi, all Labour Party candidates
From Victor Nwegede, Abakaliki
The Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Architect Edward Nwekgu has urged the citizens of the state, especially the qualified voters not to sacrifice competence and capacity on altered sentiments in the 25th February and 11th March general elections.
Dr Nkwegu made the call on Wednesday, during the party’s zonal rally and enlightenment campaign for Ebonyi South held at Owutu Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state.
The Labour gubernatorial hopeful who solicited massive support from the party faithful stated that voting for all candidates of the party in the state would bring a boost in agriculture, reform in healthcare and employment.
He added that civic programmes would be improved, all abandoned canals would be revived, cluster farming will be encouraged, and there will be support and creation of more micro businesses in the state.
On the high incidences of insecurity, Nkwegu said poverty, economic sabotage and the entire state would experience reform on water reticulation, electricity and mineral deposits if elected.
“We are here to seek your vote because a new Nigeria is possible. The party candidates are verifiable. They are competent leaders with the capacity and commitment to change the growing anxiety and yearnings.
“Our four points agenda is not political propaganda, it is based on an in-depth study of our strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats in the State.
“We will deliver and carry out all our manifestos. Hold us responsible if we don’t deliver. We will keep to our promises and ensure Ebonyi State changes from consumption to production,” Nkwegu said.
He, however, commended the party stakeholders, executives and supporters for their solidarity and commitments so far.
His running mate, Mr Igwe Nwabueze, urged supporters to support the party for a better Ebonyi state.
Mr Godwin Jioke, the party Chairman, appreciated the party supporters for their endorsement.
Jioke said that the campaign would be carried out in all nooks and crannies of the state.
He encouraged supporters to carry out the enlightenment campaign from house to house on the need for people to vote for the party.
“Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate and his running mate, Yusuf Datti, volunteered to ‘save’ the country. Be part of the change about to happen in the country,” Jioke said.
Speaking also, the Candidate for Federal House of Representatives, Afikpo North and South Constituency, Mr Anthony Ekoh, the Women Leader, Mrs Nkemdirimu Ojeh and other party stakeholders, called for support of the party candidates in the state for development.
Highlights of the rally include the inauguration of the party canvassers by the party chairman to embark on a house-to-house campaign.
