The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved the payment of the new naira notes by banks to their clients at the counter.
CBN directed that each of the banks' clients will not receive above the withdrawal limit of N20,000 at the counter.
Osita Nwanisobi, the director of corporate communications for the bank, acknowledged this in a statement that was released on Thursday.
The highest daily payout is N20,000, according to Nwanisobi.
The statement continued, “In line with this resolve, the Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has directed deposit money banks (DMBs) to commence the payment of the redesigned Naira notes over the counter, subject to a maximum daily payout limit of N20,000,”.
