A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Titus Nwenyim who was a strong supporter of the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi, Chief Ifeanyi Odii has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his State.
NATIONAL PANEL learnt that Nwenyim dumped the PDP and joined the APC, after tendering his resignation letter to the leadership of his former party.
Apart from Nwenyim, many members of the opposition parties have continued to join the ruling APC ahead of the governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Ebonyi.
This was contained in a release issued and made to journalists on Friday in Abakaliki by the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Ebonyi, Simad Ogbuatu.
According to Ogbuatu, "one of these men of honour is Hon. Titus Nwenyim who looked at the political bull in the eyes and resigned from his tripartite position in Ebonyi PDP to support APC; the backed charter of equity in gubernatorial position in Ebonyi State which led to the emergence of Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru from Ebonyi North Zone as the gubernatorial candidate of the APC.
"Until his resignation, Nwenyim was assistant financial secretary of PDP, Ebonyi State, member of Anyichuks Campaign Council, Ebonyi State and Chairman of Effium Ward (ii) Anyichuks Campaign Council.
"He held tripartite positions and resigned all of them to support APC to drive the charter of equity to a logical end with the resolve that posterity and his conscience will never forgive him if he participated in the attempt to deny the good people of Ebonyi North what is due to them."
He said: "The State Working Committee of the APC, Ebonyi State and indeed all Ebonyi APC faithful hereby heartily welcome with open arms and congratulate Hon. Nwenyim and assure him of full rights and privileges with other members of our great party.
"We also use this opportunity to call on others who are still in Ebonyi PDP supporting injustice and evil to summon the courage like Hon. Nwenyim and come over to the Ebonyi State progressive family and be reckoned on the path of honour as victory beckons.
"Let us also remind Ebonyi's electorate that the governorship and state House of Assembly elections are around the corner. Hence, they are implored to vote for the man who represents equity, justice and fair play in the gubernatorial election in Ebonyi State.
"He is Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone. He is the best man for the job and the one the cap fits. God bless our great party and indeed Ebonyi State. APC!!!!
