The members of the Association of Izhi Nnodo Media Workers have endorsed the governorship standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi as their sole candidate in the 11th March gubernatorial election in the state.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ebonyi State Council - Comrade Tony Nwizi, the National President of the Association of Izhi Nnodo Media Workers - Comrade Sunday Nwambam and the Publicity Secretary of the Association of Izhi Nnodo Media Workers - Dr Boniface Nwankwo.
Recall that the Association of Izhi Nnodo Media Workers is the umbrella body uniting all Media Workers of Izhi extraction plying their trade both within and outside Nigeria.
The Association adopted Nwifuru, who is the two-term serving Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly after her proper analysis of the current political trends, especially in Ebonyi State.
The Association in her press release commended highly the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer David Nweze Umahi for working assiduously to transform all the critical sectors of Ebonyi State within just eight years on the saddle.
The release further read: "We salute His Excellency the Governor for his belief in equity, justice and fairness in the choice of his successor come March 11, 2023.
"We congratulate all sons of Ishi Nnodo who are vying for the number one seat in Ebonyi State under the various political parties for their patriotism.
"That after a thorough examination of the character, pedigree, temperament and antecedents of all Candidates, the Association of Izhi Nnodo Media Workers has unanimously chosen to stand with Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru who had been so endorsed by the Traditional Rulers, custodians of our customs and traditions.
"We encourage other Candidates of Izhi extraction to drop their ambition and rally around Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru in obedience to the yearnings of our Traditional Institution.
"That all sons and daughters of Izhi Nnodo Clan and indeed all lovers of equity, justice, fairness and good governance should in their numbers cast their votes for APC and Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru on the 11th day of March 2023 to enable him to scale up the pace of development in our fledgling salt of the Nation.
"That Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru and the APC family should with magnanimity receive all Citizens of the State who are ready and willing to join the moving train at any point in the struggle without conditions.
"That the Association wishes Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru and House of Assembly Candidates from Ebonyi North Senatorial District and beyond success in the March 11 poll."
