The Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Inter-Party and Labour Matters, Dr Mrs Jenifer Adibe-Nwafor has commended her principal for his steadfastness in taking care of the workers' welfare in the state since the assumption of his office.
Mrs Adibe-Nwafor while interacting with newsmen, Monday during the May Day celebration at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, said that Governor Umahi's administrative impacts on workers of the state remained laudable.
She asserted: "Since the inception of this administration, it has been peaceful between the government and workers in the State, the government has always engaged workers in dialogue.
“At the moment, a lot of their welfare has been met, during the time of minimum wage for instance, when other states were still negotiating, the labour unions went into dialogue with the Governor and Ebonyi State became the first to pay the thirty thousand Naira minimum wage, among other welfare packages."
She further applauded Governor Umahi for creating job opportunities for the people of Ebonyi State by building an international airport of world standard as well as the David David Federal University of Medical Sciences, among others.
She noted that the infrastructural facilities built by Governor Umahi's administration have employed many youths, men, and women in Ebonyi and however, called on the workers to support the incoming government under the watch of the State Governor-elect, Chief Francis Nwifuru, to continue moving the State forward.
