Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved a 150,000 Naira relief allowance for every medical doctor working in the general hospitals across the 13 local government areas in Ebonyi State.
The governor made this known, Monday when he received the staff of the Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) Foundation in his office, Ochudo Centenary City Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
He said the approval of the relief allowance for the medical doctors was to boost his practical approach to delivering quality healthcare services to the Ebonyi people.
Nwifuru said, "I approved a relief allowance of one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000.00) to be added to the salaries of the medical doctors working in general hospitals across the State.
"This is to assist them in fueling their new cars and to offset other sundry expenses."
The governor expressed his zeal to solidify the fruitful synergy between the government of Ebonyi State and the Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) Foundation.
He recalled that AMURT is one of the non-governmental organizations working in some of the rural communities in Ebonyi State and other parts of the world.
According to him, AMURT’s flashlight is focused on primary healthcare delivery with a major emphasis on maternal and child health.
Nwifuru further disclosed that he has integrated AMURT staff into the State Civil Service to boost their morale.
"And should in any case AMURT cease operation in the State, those health workers will continue serving the rural areas, using the AMURT facilities that will be left there as health centres," the governor pointed out.
He, therefore, maintained that his administration would make Ebonyi State a reference place for excellent healthcare initiatives across the nation.
