The Wife of Ebonyi State Governor Chief (Mrs) Mary Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru has again launched free skill acquisition training for over one hundred and thirty (130) youths drawn from the thirteen Local Government Areas through her per project, BERWO in collaboration with the State Ministry of skill Development and Job Creation with the view to reduce incessant street hawking among youths of the State.
The Governor's Wife who flagged off the three months intensive training at Pastoral Center Abakaliki, noted that the programme represented the commitment of Governor Nwifuru's led adminstration to empowering youths of the State, saying it is significant to invest on the youths and equip them so as to succeed in life especially this present economic hardship in the Country.
Mrs Nwifuru while harping on the need for youths to acquire new skills, noted that BERWO foundation carefully crafted the programme to providing the youths with skills that are highly demanded and charged participants to be proactive in learning the skills and practice it so to contribute positively not only in the State but the Country at large.
The State first lady further extolled her darling husband Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his unwavering support for youths Development in the State. She also thanked the State Commissioner for skill Dev. and and job creation Hon. Okwu Oko Udu and BERWO team lead Mrs Nkechi Echiegu for their commitment and foresight to youth Development, adding that investing on the youths would undoubtedly yielded dividends in the future as the trainees would become skill professionals, entrepreneurs and driving of innovation growth in the State.
She charged the participants to use the opportunity wisely in their own best interest.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for skill Development and job creation Hon. Okwu Oko Udu described skill acquisition as a bedrock in which individuals build sustainable futures and economic thrive, noting that skills is a critical component of education that breaks the cycle of poverty and create a ripple effect of prosperity, even as technical and vocational skills are essential for personal and Community Development.
The Commissioner who disclosed that the participants would be trained on tailoring, fashion and design, catering, barbing, shoe making, almaco and after which be issued with start up kits, maintained that his Ministry is targeted to ensuring that over Fifty Ebonyians would be taken out of the street before the end of the present adminstration in the State.
However, he commended Governor Nwifuru and his Wife for their giant efforts in ensuring Ebonyi youths roaming about in various cities in the Country are being repatriated and empowered
In their good will messages, the wife of the Speaker of Ebonyi House of Assembly Mrs Florence Odunwa, Wife of the State APC chairman Mrs Stella Okoro Emegha among others praised their Execellencies for their commitment and dedication to bettering the lives of Ebonyi youths and urged the participants to take the training seriously.
Some of the participants including Agbo Joshua from Ishielu and Abah Oluchi of Ohaukwu Local Government Areas respectively applauded Mrs Nwifuru for the show of love upon them and promised to justify the confidence reposed on them by being dedicated to the training.
