The Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate wearing the golden boots of Ebonyi North Senatorial district- Distinguished Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi has commended the good people of Oferekpe Agbaja autonomous community in Izzi local government area of Ebonyi state on the peaceful selection and coronation of their new traditional ruler – Ezeogo Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu, father to the Executive Governor of Ebonyi state – His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru adding that it will be a wind of blessings to other traditional rulers whose staffs of office are still pending.
Senator Nwebonyi gave the commendation while delivering his goodwill message during the coronation of Ezeogo Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu at Oferekpe Agbaja Primary School field on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
While congratulating the new traditional ruler, Senator Nwebonyi enjoined him to extend his royal blessings and developmental strides to all other parts of the state adding that he has since been ordained by God to be a King owing to his expansive family and immeasurable blessings from God.
“ I pray the Almighty God to bless Ezeogo Nwifuru Nwankpu with longevity and fruitful reign. The development of your community is already assured since your son is the Governor, we only plead that you extend some developments to other parts of the state. I’m also optimistic that other communities whose traditional rulers are pending would equally receive their staff of office soon in order to be like others.”
The federal lawmaker further eulogized Governor Nwifuru for his people-oriented leadership in the state noting Ebonyians are very happy with him. He expressed confidence that the reign of Ezeogo Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu will bring peace, progress and unprecedented development not only to Oferekpe autonomous community but the entire Ebonyi state.
The major highpoints of the event were the coronation of the new traditional ruler- Eze Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu by the Chairman of Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers Council – HRH Eze Charles Mkpuma and the presentation of the Staff of office to him by the Executive Governor of Ebonyi state –His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
While thanking the leaders and people of the state for honouring the coronation of the new traditional ruler, Governor Nwifuru recounted the many travails his father encountered along the road to greatness and commended him for his resolute calm, courage, hardwork, integrity, honesty and doggedness. He assured that the new traditional ruler will lead the community with uprightness, fairness and shall dispense equitable justice to all without fear or favour.
The royal event was attended by all the former democratically elected Governors of Ebonyi state – their Excellencies: Senator Sam Egwu, Chief Martin Elechi, Senator David Umahi, National Assembly Members, Speaker of the state House of Assembly and members, members of the Bar and Bench, Council Chairmen, traditional rulers among other top Government officials.
