Mr Kennedy Okenwa, from Umulobo village, has emerged the Chairman of Okwu-Emeke community Youth Association Chairman, in Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo state.
Okenwa popularly known as "Puma" and "Aku Enwebe (Wealth is not restricted to a place) polled 85 votes to defeat his challenger and Kinsman, Ugonna Ijeaku who polled 26 votes.
The election which was free, transparent and credible, saw the full participation of youths of the community and observation from elders and other interested parties alike.
"Puma" in his acceptance speech, thanked the people for choosing him to oversee the affairs of the youths of the community and assured them of diligent and effective leadership.
"I will not disappoint my people and will always seek their opinion in what ever decision or undertaking I engage-in."
He noted that he would leverage on his age-long ideology of building a kingdom in the community and sought the cooperation of all, to achieve the goal.
"To whom much is given much is expected so I will do my best to achieve all set goals.
"We have all made sacrifices to enhance the wellbeing of youths and other members of the community and would do everything possible to sustain all gains."
Henry Osuji, Chairman of the Youth Task Force said that Puma's emergence signifies a new dawn that would usher great tidings for youths in the community.
"Baka" as he is fondly called, said that the new dawn would motivate the youths to strive towards excellence and contribute to the peace and security of the community.
"He is a source of inspiration, an opinion moulder and a great asset to the community,"
Chiwuike Osuji and Elvis Ohiri, Who Coordinated Puma's campaign activities, said that the team painstakingly coordinated activities that ensured the success of their candidate at the polls.
"He is someone who command's respect and that attribute made things easy for us.
"There is no victor or vanquished as we we are all brothers working towards the betterment of the community," they chorused.
Mr Nnaemeka Opara, a Foremost Youth Stakeholder in the community said that Puma's overwhelming victory reflected the youths' decision and such was in the overall interest.
Comrade Andrew Opara, an Uncle to the new chairman said the elders of the community would guide him not to derail from the path of justice and equity set for him.
Mr Cornell Kema, who vied for the Vice Chairmanship position in the bye election was returned opposed by the electorate.
Mr Ugonna Ijeaku who contested the chairmanship position with Puma declined comments when approached but convivaled with the winning group alongside his supporters.
