The Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has revealed that the National Assembly (NASS) will soon convene a security summit aimed at finding lasting solutions to the persistent insecurity challenges across Nigeria.
Romanus Uzor Ozioko, the Special Assistant to the Senator made this known in a press release, noting that Nwebonyi while speaking in a live interview with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Abuja at the weekend emphasized that the 10th Senate is committed to doing things differently, describing it as a “corrective” Senate.
He credited Nigeria’s ongoing economic revival to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold reform initiatives.
Addressing a range of national issues—security, the economy, education, agriculture, and legislative direction—Senator Nwebonyi expressed optimism about the country's trajectory. He highlighted the positive impact of initiatives like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (Nelfund) and ongoing tax reforms, which he said will boost economic diversification and stability once passed into law.
He urged Nigerians to rally behind President Tinubu’s administration, noting that the policies being implemented are strategically designed to solve deep-rooted economic problems. Senator Nwebonyi also reaffirmed the 10th Senate’s commitment, under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to addressing the needs and aspirations of Nigerians through people-centred legislation.
