A former Ebonyi State House of Assembly aspirant and prominent political figure in Ishielu Local Government Area, Hon. Stephen Chinonso Egbe, has applauded Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State for his swift and compassionate intervention in support of victims of a recent herders’ attack in Nkalaha community.
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State and former Aspirant for Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon Stephen Chinonso Egbe.
Egbe, who currently serves as Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Ishielu LGA on Youth Mobilization, described the Governor’s visit as a strong display of empathy and responsive governance. According to him, Governor Nwifuru visited the affected community to distribute essential relief items, including two 50kg bags of rice per victim, cartons of noodles, other palliatives, and cash support.
“This is a landmark gesture. His Excellency has shown the people of Nkalaha that they are not forgotten. He gave food, money, and most importantly, hope. That is true leadership," Egbe told journalists during the visit.
He emphasized that the visit underscored the Governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of all Ebonyians, particularly those in remote or crisis-impacted areas.
Egbe further highlighted that the intervention was a practical reflection of the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs—the policy blueprint upon which Governor Nwifuru was elected in 2023.
“The Governor has set a new standard. People are no longer just complaining about bad roads or hunger. His administration is tackling both infrastructure and humanitarian needs head-on,” he added.
He also revealed that Governor Nwifuru pledged to return to Nkalaha soon to continue supporting the victims and monitor their recovery progress. According to Egbe, such follow-up reflects the Governor’s understanding of leadership as a continuous commitment, not just an election-time gesture.
Commending others involved in the relief efforts, Egbe praised the Executive Chairman of Ishielu LGA, Hon. Mrs. Peace Ifeoma Agwu, for her earlier visit to the community, where she provided additional cash support and palliatives, as well as reinforced local security measures to safeguard lives and property.
“Hon. Peace Ifeoma Agwu is also a Godsend. Her efforts complement the Governor’s vision and demonstrate that at every level, Ebonyi leaders are stepping up to the challenge,” he stated.
He recalled that the herders’ attack in Nkalaha left several families displaced and grieving, sparking widespread concern across the state. However, he noted that the recent relief initiative has been widely hailed by residents as a critical step toward healing and restoring public confidence in government.
