Ezza South Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Euphemia Nwali, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for their contributions to strengthening democracy in Nigeria and Ebonyi State.
Speaking in commemoration of Nigeria’s 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, Hon. Nwali expressed her appreciation for the leadership demonstrated at both national and state levels. She joined residents of Ezza South and Nigerians nationwide in celebrating the progress made since the country’s return to civilian rule in 1999.
“Over the past two years, we have seen how Your Excellency not only envisions a brighter future for Ebonyians but also actively represents our interests,” Nwali said, referring to Governor Nwifuru. She lauded his adherence to the Peoples Charter of Needs and delivery of democratic dividends.
The council chairman also applauded the administration’s tolerance of opposition voices, describing it as a hallmark of democratic maturity. “Your Excellency's tolerance of dissent has solidified our belief in democracy, showcasing your humility, grace, and courage under pressure,” she added.
Nwali emphasized that democracy is not only about physical infrastructure but also about instilling democratic values in citizens. “The legacy you are creating in the minds of Ebonyians, a genuine understanding of democracy, surpasses any material achievement,” she noted.
She further described Governor Nwifuru as a model democrat and a source of inspiration, commending his faith-driven leadership approach.
As the country marks over two decades of democratic rule, Hon. Nwali’s remarks reflect a broader sentiment of gratitude and optimism for continued democratic consolidation in Nigeria.
