The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the complete removal of all tuition and related fees at the 33 Federal Science and Technical Colleges (FSTCs) across the country, beginning with the 2025/2026 academic session.
The policy, which takes effect from August 2025, is part of a broader effort to expand access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) nationwide. The initiative aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills in key sectors such as engineering, healthcare, construction, and hospitality.
Under the new directive, students enrolled in the TVET program will receive free tuition, accommodation, and meals for the three-year duration of their training. In addition, beneficiaries will be paid monthly stipends to support their upkeep.
Upon graduation, students will earn both the National Business and Technical Certificate (NBTC) and the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certification — both of which are internationally recognized. Graduates will also be eligible to access federal grants or loans to establish their own businesses.
The Federal Ministry of Education emphasized that the program is designed to foster self-employment and improve job readiness, with courses aligned to current labour market demands.
Prospective candidates can register by visiting any of the FSTC campuses nationwide. Registration costs ₦4,200 per student and ends on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Entrance examinations are scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the respective colleges.
Officials noted that no late registrations will be accepted.
