The Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources in Ebonyi State, Hon. Chief Chinedum Magnus Nkah, was on Tuesday honoured by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ebonyi State Chapter, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and contributions to the rehabilitation of critical water infrastructure across the state.
During a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Water Resources in Abakaliki, the NYCN executives decorated Hon. Nkah as a Patron of the council, describing the gesture as a token of appreciation for his unwavering service to the people of Ebonyi State.
In his response, the Commissioner expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that the honour was unexpected but sincerely appreciated. He emphasised his continued commitment to the realisation of the “Water for All” mandate, championed under the administration of Governor Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru through the People’s Charter of Needs.
“This honour is not just for me but for the entire team working tirelessly to meet the water needs of our people. I remain committed to serving the state with dedication and ensuring sustainable water access for all,” he said.
Hon. Nkah also used the occasion to encourage the youth to remain focused, responsible, and supportive of government efforts aimed at development and service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Chukwuma Njoku, speaking on behalf of the management and staff, commended the NYCN for recognising the Commissioner’s efforts. He assured the youth body of the ministry’s continued cooperation in fostering youth engagement and development in the state.
The brief but colourful event was attended by top ministry officials, NYCN leadership, and members of staff.
