Towards fostering inclusive governance and sustainable development, the Alike Ikwo Youth Forum has declared its commitment to collaborating with leaders at all levels to enhance youth participation and promote good governance within Ebonyi State, particularly in Alike, Ikwo Local Government Area.
The resolution was made during an extraordinary stakeholders’ meeting held recently in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital. A communique issued at the end of the meeting was jointly signed by the Forum's President, Comrade Chinua Nwele, and Secretary, Comrade Jacob Ogodo, and circulated to journalists.
The communique outlined the group’s strategic objectives, emphasizing the need to harness youth potential for peace, unity, and socio-economic advancement.
It read in part: "We resolve to work with leaders at all levels to marshal out modalities on how to increase youth participation and support for good governance in Ebonyi State, Ikwo Local Government Area, and Alike principal community, both locally and internationally.”
The youth group acknowledged the contributions of past and current leaders of Alike Ikwo, commending their efforts in promoting peace, human capital development, and infrastructure growth across the community and the wider Ikwo Noyo clan.
“The forum applauds past and present leaders of Alike Ikwo extraction for their selfless services to the Nation, State, Local Government, and grassroots level. Their impact continues to leave indelible footprints in the sands of time,” the communique stated.
The Forum urged youth across Alike to appreciate the strides of their leaders and shun unpatriotic behaviors such as public ridicule or personal attacks. Instead, they were encouraged to focus on constructive engagement and collective development efforts.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of mobilizing Alike youths, both at home and in the diaspora, for initiatives centered on education, skills acquisition, health promotion, and civic inclusion. The Forum expressed appreciation for the leadership and vision of its executives and called for increased unity among young people.
“As a youth-driven body, we remain committed to forging partnerships that will open doors for leadership training, policy engagement, and economic empowerment for our young people,” said Comrade Chinua Nwele.
The group maintained that the resolutions marked a significant step in repositioning the Alike Ikwo Youth Forum as a proactive force in shaping the future of the community through strategic dialogue, unity, and developmental advocacy.
