Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of the Osun Amotekun Corps in its efforts to ensure security across the state.
Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Bobagunwa Teslim Igbalaiye, at the one-year anniversary of the Osun Amotekun Corps held at the Corps’ Operational Headquarters in Oke-Fia, Osogbo, Governor Adeleke praised the outfit for its dedication and called for continued innovation and community engagement in its operations.
The event also featured the commissioning of newly renovated offices and an officers’ lodge, with the Governor noting that security remains a top priority for his administration.
“I wish to re-emphasise that when our administration supported the overhaul of Osun Amotekun Corps, we did so with the belief that a secure Osun is a prosperous Osun. However, we must not relent,” Adeleke stated.
“To all operatives of the Corps, I thank you for your tireless service. Your sacrifice, often silent and unseen, is the reason Osun remains relatively peaceful," he said.
Chairman of the Osun Amotekun Corps Board, AIG Wale Abbas (Rtd), also addressed the gathering, urging citizens to support the Corps by cooperating and remaining vigilant. “Security is a shared responsibility,” he said. “We are not working for any political party, but for the peace and safety of every citizen of Osun.”
Similarly, Corps Commander Chief Hon. (Dr.) Isaac Omoyele commended Governor Adeleke’s consistent support, which he described as instrumental to the operational growth and success of the outfit.
Earlier in his remarks, Field Commander Soji Akanni highlighted the qualities of the leadership team, including pragmatism, courage, accountability, and community partnership as key drivers of the Corps’ success over the past year.
The event was well-attended by community leaders, government officials, security stakeholders, and residents.
