The Vice Chancellor of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Prof. Jesse Uneke, says the university is committed to raising students who will transform society through innovation, leadership, and purpose-driven education.
He made this declaration during his birthday celebration held at the university, where staff, friends, and dignitaries gathered to honour his leadership and legacy.
“We are raising children that will make meaningful contributions to society tomorrow,” Prof. Uneke said. “Our university is now a credible alternative to studying abroad.”
The celebration, marked with worship, tributes, and reflections, highlighted Prof. Uneke’s impact as a scholar and administrator. He thanked God for His grace and praised university staff for their dedication and resilience.
Registrar Mr. Vitalis Ofor described the VC as a digital-era leader whose vision laid the foundation of DUFUHS and transformed its systems through ICT, research, and innovation.
“He’s energetic, strategic, and has moved us from zero to one of the best institutions around,” Ofor noted.
Bursar Dr. Charles Nwobia hailed Prof. Uneke as a “beacon of inspiration” whose leadership has placed DUFUHS on the global academic map.
Others, including Dr. Okorie Peter and Barr. P.C. Ngene, praised his humility, drive, and commitment to excellence.
“He dreams big, but serves even bigger,” Ngene said. “Working with him has been a masterclass in modern leadership.”
The celebration underscored Prof. Uneke’s unwavering vision: building a world-class university producing graduates who will shape the future.
