The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas Ekwe (Rtd), has charged corps members to show utmost commitment to improving the welfare of their host communities.
Ekwe gave the charge on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course for corps members deployed to Rivers State. The event was held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, the Sole Administrator commended the corps members for their discipline and active participation throughout the orientation programme.
“You participated actively in all camp activities, and your positive conduct is both commendable and heartwarming," he said. “I encourage you to fully integrate into your host communities and explore the abundant natural resources with which God has blessed Rivers State.”
Also speaking, the NYSC State Coordinator in Rivers, Mr. Moses Oleghe, urged the corps members to make the most of their service year by pursuing their passions and developing life-changing skills.
“The service year is an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. Use it to positively impact your communities,” he advised.
A total of 2,302 corps members—comprising 931 males and 1,371 females—successfully completed the orientation programme in Rivers State.
