The Special Assistant to the Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area on Youth Mobilization, Stephen Chinonso Egbe, on Sunday commended the Executive Chairman of Ishielu LGA, Chief Mrs. Peace Ifeoma Agwu, for what he described as a landmark first year in office.
Egbe, a former aspirant for the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, made the commendation in a press statement issued in Abakaliki to mark Mrs. Agwu’s one-year anniversary as council chairman.
He said the chairman had in just one year recorded significant achievements across key sectors of development, ranging from infrastructure and youth empowerment to peace-building and traditional leadership reconciliation.
According to him, the Agwu-led administration has empowered youths and women, promoted peace and security, sunk boreholes in rural communities, installed streetlights in strategic areas, and constructed the 3.1km Obuchiru–Nkalagu road.
He further stated that the chairman successfully facilitated the peaceful conduct of Ezeship elections in communities without traditional rulers, reconciled rival royal fathers, issued staff of office to newly recognized traditional rulers, and renovated the council headquarters in Ezillo.
“These are life-touching projects that have redefined grassroots governance in Ishielu and given the people a sense of belonging,” Egbe said.
The youth mobilization aide also commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his support to the council, noting that the state government has complemented local efforts through the construction of the Ezillo–Iyionu–Ezzagu road and the establishment of health centers at Obuchiru village and other communities in the area.
“As our performing chairman steps into her second year in office, we assure her of continuous support and solidarity. We pray God to grant her more grace, strength and wisdom to deliver greater dividends of democracy to our people,” he added.
Egbe congratulated the chairman, whom he addressed as "Ezinne," and described her as a symbol of transformational grassroots leadership.
