The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved its Enugu State Executive Committee with immediate effect, following what it described as a comprehensive review of the party’s situation in the state.
This decision was part of the resolutions reached at the 179th meeting of the NWC held on Thursday at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, under the chairmanship of the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.
In the interim, a seven-member Caretaker Committee has been appointed to oversee the affairs of the party in Enugu State. The committee is chaired by Dr. Ben Nwoye, with Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh serving as secretary. Other members include H.E. Mrs. Fidelia Njoeze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Ajih, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, and Engr. Emma Ekeh.
The committee will be inaugurated on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
Also at the meeting, the NWC received and considered the report of the screening exercise for aspirants seeking to contest the APC primary election for the Ekiti State governorship.
Two aspirants—incumbent Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo—were cleared to participate in the primary. Two others, Engr. Ojo Kayode and Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi, were disqualified.
Other key resolutions from the meeting include plans for the inauguration of the APC National Reconciliation Committee, chaired by Chief Bisi Akande, at a date to be announced.
The NWC also disclosed that the timetable for nationwide party congresses will be released shortly. Additionally, the APC Constitution Amendment Committee will begin public hearings later this month, while preparations are underway for the inauguration of the Anambra State Governorship National Campaign Council.
The resolutions were made public in a press statement signed by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko.
