Former House of Representatives member, Chief Lazarus Nweru Ogbee, has applauded Governor Francis Nwifuru for restoring peace and deepening development across Ebonyi State, describing his administration as “unprecedented.”
Speaking with journalists, Ogbee recalled that successive civilian governors of the state including Dr. Sam Egwu, Chief Martin Elechi, and Engr. David Umahi all laid strong foundations for the state’s growth.
However, he stressed that Nwifuru had distinguished himself by “bringing lasting peace” to communities once torn by violent clashes, including Ikwo-Izzi, Amasiri-Eda, and Ezza-Effium.
“In the atmosphere of peace, development thrives,” he said, noting that Ebonyi now enjoys improved security, unity, and infrastructure.
Ogbee highlighted the siting of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital at Onueke, the new Ebonyi International Airport at Ezza, massive road dualisation projects, and the governor’s policy of completing inherited projects as clear signs of progress.
He also extolled the administration for sponsoring Ebonyi indigenes abroad for postgraduate studies, boosting education and human capital.
According to him, the governor has not borrowed funds but has prudently managed state resources to deliver “humongous infrastructure and human development projects.”
On 2027 politics, Ogbee said the Ezza bloc and several support groups have resolved to back Nwifuru for a second term.
“It is Kamen — do unto others what you want done to you. Our tradition supports two terms, and with the way he is going, we are solidly behind him,” he affirmed.
The ex-lawmaker, who recently defected from PDP to APC to join forces with the governor, urged stakeholders to close ranks, insisting that Ebonyi is now more united than ever in politics, development, and peace.
“Today, Ebonyians can sleep with two eyes closed. Crime has reduced to the barest minimum, and people are going about their businesses without fear. That is the biggest achievement of Governor Nwifuru,” Ogbe stated.
