The lawmaker representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to replicate the Ebonyi model of inclusive governance and security management being championed by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, describing it as a practical solution to Nigeria’s lingering insecurity and developmental challenges.
Speaking with journalists in Abakaliki during activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary and Ebonyi State’s 29th anniversary, the federal lawmaker commended President Tinubu’s strides in stabilising the economy and restoring confidence in governance but noted that the country’s security architecture still requires strategic strengthening and grassroots engagement.
Eze said Governor Nwifuru has successfully applied what he termed the “Francis Formula for State Security and National Development”, which has entrenched peace, unity, and accelerated development across Ebonyi State.
“I advise Mr. President to come to Ebonyi and work closely with our governor to deploy what I call the Francis Formula for state security and national development. That’s what the governor has successfully done here in Ebonyi, and it has brought lasting peace to the state,” Eze said.
The lawmaker explained that the Francis Formula is anchored on inclusive governance, human dignity, and stakeholder engagement, which ensures that citizens feel a sense of belonging and ownership of government policies.
“The secret is simple — giving every citizen a sense of belonging and respect. Once people feel recognized and valued, they naturally defend peace and order. Governor Nwifuru united stakeholders who once worked at cross-purposes, and that neutralized the root of most crises,” he added.
Eze emphasized that Nigeria’s insecurity crisis cannot be solved solely through military interventions but through governance models that build trust, reconciliation, and collective responsibility at the local level.
He, therefore, called on President Tinubu to replicate the Ebonyi model in other parts of the country particularly in regions plagued by insurgency and communal unrest by bringing political, traditional, and community leaders into active participation in governance.
“Crises in many regions are often caused by stakeholders who feel excluded. Once they are engaged and their dignity restored, they become partners in peace and progress,” Eze maintained.
The lawmaker commended Nigeria’s democratic growth at 65 and Ebonyi’s remarkable transformation at 29, describing both as symbols of resilience and evolving governance.
He lauded Governor Nwifuru for redefining leadership through policies that promote youth empowerment, workers’ welfare, educational reforms, healthcare access, and massive infrastructural expansion.
“The Ebonyi example stands today as a beacon of hope. It should serve as a national template for peacebuilding, inclusive leadership, and development-driven governance,” he concluded.
It would be recalled that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Nwifuru has implemented a governance structure that fosters unity among political stakeholders, integrates traditional leaders, and empowers youths through strategic appointments and skill-based initiatives.
His administration’s inclusive approach has been credited for restoring lasting peace, stability, and confidence in the state’s democratic institutions.
