President Bola Tinubu's kinsmen have continued to laud the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, describing him as an exceptionally intelligent man whose strategic thinking has left many Nigerians astonished.
Their commendation began to unfold more after Kanu listed those who would be his witnesses in the court during his alleged terrorism trial.
In a statement circulating online, a Yoruba man, Babatunde Biodun, said he had travelled widely but had never encountered a man with Kanu’s depth of intellect and courage.
He noted that many of Kanu’s critics, himself included, had underestimated the IPOB leader’s foresight.
“I have travelled worldwide, and I have never met an intelligent, wise man like Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” Biodun said.
“We mocked those who protested for his freedom, not knowing the man from the East was preparing something greater," he further stated.
He added that Kanu’s latest legal manoeuvres had taken the nation by surprise, forcing both supporters and opponents to reassess their views.
“Now the country is running up and down. If those witnesses appear in court, he will disgrace us; if they refuse to come, it means we have run from our own court,” he remarked.
Biodun urged Nigerians to drop ethnic sentiment and acknowledge Kanu’s brilliance and determination.
“Please, drop all forms of hatred you have for this man and tell me this man is not intelligent,” he concluded.
Biodun’s comments have sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms, with many Nigerians applauding his honesty and others engaging in fresh debate over Kanu’s influence on national unity and justice.
Observers say the reaction reflects growing public interest in Kanu’s ongoing legal battles and his role in shaping conversations around Nigeria’s political future.
