What lies before us in Nigeria today is undoubtedly, akin to the biblical account of the war faced by King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah.
I slept and woke up this morning, convinced that Nigeria cannot continue this way. And that God, in His mysterious ways, still rules over the affairs of men.
We are at a point where hopelessness, killing of innocent people no longer attracts attention, talk more of reactions from the authorities that be .
“It’s just one of those things,” someone told me when I recently expressed concern about what happened in the Edda verses Amasiri crises, in Ebonyi State which led to killings.
Hey! Just like that, I thought.
While still pondering on that, a colleague called me, 'Ozo, do you have story on the killings by rivalry cult groups".
So, who can save us? To whose patronage shall we run?
Every day, Nigerians check on loved ones with anxious phone calls. “My dear, how una dey?” not minding the burden of wicked tariffs charged by the network providers.
Nonetheless, the turn of events this week, though with spots of uncertainty, hints that God still has Nigerians at heart. That God is still on the side of the weak wreaked by the strong. That whether the church leaders speak out or not the time chosen for liberation of the people shall come through the voice of unknown prophets.
According to the biblical account in 2 Chronicles 20, when King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah faced the vast armies of Moab, Ammon, and Mount Seir, God instructed them not to fight, but to take their positions, stand still, and witness the Lord’s deliverance.
Infact, some people are saying that President Donald Trump should come and take over Nigeria. Sounds primitive? Yes. Because Nigeria is a sovereign nation.
But a situation where your neighbor is rearing scorpions, you naturally reserve the right to protect yourself and your household. The disturbing issue here, to a number of the elite, particularly the political class is whether Trump is after the scorpions or the neighbor. To a number of some other people, what Trump is doing is to catch and decimate the scorpions because injury to one can become injury to all, if not now, it can be in the future..
For Me,
We stand at the edge of history. As in Jehoshaphat’s day, our salvation may not come from swords or armies, but from the intervention of the Almighty God through whomever He chooses to use.
Let Nigeria take to prayers of supplication, stand still, and watch what God Will do.
