..... We'll commit them to prison - Legal Adviser
The crisis rocking Ebonyi State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new twist following the suspension of some chieftains of the party by a faction.
A statement urged by the Publicity Secretary of faction, Nwafor Richard Nwali listed those suspended from the party as Chief Ifeanyi Odii the 2023 governorship candidate of the party and his running mate, Sen. Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, former Deputy National Secretary of the party, Onwe Solomon Onwe, Legal Adviser of the party in the state, Chief Mudi Erhenede among other chieftains.
"Their suspension is for a period of 1 month and they have being referred to the disciplinary committee inaugurated yesterday at the state Secretariat, Abakaliki", the statement read in brief.
But the Legal Adviser of the party, Chief Mudi Erhenede has described the suspension as null and void and disobedience to court judgement which he said nullified all the congress of the party conducted by the faction that announced the suspension.
He vowed to commit the faction to prison for disobedience to the court judgement even as mocked Nwali for inability to spell his surname correctly in the statement he issued purporting to suspend him and other chieftains of the party.
"Anybody can fly any statement, are they not mad? Is there any executive of PDP in Ebonyi State? The congress they claimed brought them was nullified, even in this judgement of the federal high court in Abuja delivered last week , it was confirmed that there is no executive in Ebonyi.
"So, they are just planning with their expelled leader to save face. We are going to respond to them appropriately. I have seen the statement but I am just laughing. Is that not madness.
"They don't even exist in law talk more of carrying out any act because the judgement of the federal high court is very clear and it nullified the entire so called congresses they did.
"So, in the eyes of the law, they don't even occupy any office. That person that is talking of being publicity Secretary, of which body?
" I have instructed my office and we are going to serve them for 48 and for 49 and send them to prison because what they have done amounts to contempt of court.
"The couldn't even spell my name correctly to tell you that they are complete mad people. They couldn't spell my surname and I saw it and I said is it me?", he mocked the faction.
A federal high court sitting in Abakaliki, the state capital had nullified the congress of the party conducted by a faction of the party in suit no FHC/AI/CS/183/2024.
The judgment was delivered by Justice Adeyanju A E.
