As yuletide celebrations brought joy and festive spirit to Ebonyi State, Barrister Tochukwu Ogalegu, popularly known as T-Man, seized the occasion to declare his ambition to contest the 2027 National Assembly elections.
The APC chieftain announced his intention to vie for the House of Representatives seat representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency during an interactive session with journalists at his Amike Izhia country home in Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
Ogalegu said his decision to enter the race was shaped by years of grassroots engagement, community service, and leadership experience. “My ambition is to attract meaningful federal presence and deliver sustainable development to our constituency,” he stated.
The aspirant emphasized that politics should be driven by service, competence, and measurable impact rather than personal gain. “Politics is not a settlement arrangement. It is about capacity, sacrifice, and results. You earn the trust of the people through what you have done and what you are prepared to do for them,” he explained.
Highlighting the importance of peace and security as the foundation of development, Ogalegu commended the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru for restoring stability in Ebonyi State. He noted that the massive return of indigenes for the Christmas celebrations was a clear demonstration of the state’s newfound peace.
“This is the first time in many years that our people are coming home in large numbers for Christmas. That alone shows that peace has been restored. Without peace, there can be no progress, no business, and no unity,” he said.
Assessing the performance of the state government, the APC chieftain rated Governor Nwifuru’s administration at 70 percent, describing it as commendable, while expressing optimism for further achievements before the end of the tenure.
Ogalegu also urged youths and motorists to exercise caution during the festive period, encouraging respect for human life, patience, and lawful conduct.
“Christmas is not a time to endanger your life on the road or engage in dangerous activities. Life is precious, and what you do not achieve today, you can achieve tomorrow,” he advised.
As the Patron of the Francis Frontiers Movement in Ohaukwu LGA, Ogalegu spoke about the grassroots organisation’s efforts to support Governor Nwifuru and boost voter participation.
He revealed that sustained sensitization and mobilization increased voter registration in his polling unit from 38 to 767. The movement has also assisted voter registration across several communities through logistics support, including the donation of a branded Sienna vehicle and financial incentives to coordinators.
Beyond politics, Ogalegu highlighted the work of the Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation, his humanitarian initiative, which has empowered thousands of indigent citizens through education sponsorships, employment support, healthcare interventions, borehole projects, and housing assistance for widows.
Declaring his readiness for the 2027 contest, Ogalegu expressed confidence in his grassroots acceptance, promising to leverage his legal background, leadership experience, and community engagement to represent constituents effectively in the National Assembly. He urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the voter card as the most powerful tool in a democracy.
“Your PVC is your power. Treat it as important as your school fees, hospital bills, or ATM card. The will of the people will always prevail,” he concluded.
If you want, I can also create a shorter, punchier version for online readers or social media, keeping the yuletide theme but making it snappier. Do you want me to do that next?
