More than 2,000 personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) have undergone an intensive intelligence management training in Ebonyi State.
The Chief Commander of the service in Ebonyi State, Larry Igwe stated this while briefing journalists at Abakaliki shortly after the training recently.
It was gathered that the programme, conducted by lecturers from the Department of State Services (DSS), forms part of a national initiative running concurrently in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Igwe said the exercise aimed to enhance the personnel’s capacity in intelligence gathering and information management.
“What we witnessed here today in Ebonyi is mirrored in every state of this federation, including Abuja. This training equips our personnel with the most current skills in intelligence and information management,” he said.
He described the turnout as “overwhelming,” noting that officers came from both nearby and remote local government areas to participate.
He also extolled Governor Francis Nwifuru for providing a conducive environment that enabled the programme to proceed smoothly in the state.
“Following the Almighty God, it is Governor Nwifuru whom we thank for giving us a soft landing for this initiative. The calm and orderly atmosphere has been commended by our DSS partners,” Igwe said.
The Chief Commander urged personnel to apply the knowledge gained in their duties, stressing the need for discipline, focus, and proactivity.
He also appealed for improved accommodation and logistics support, noting that better facilities would enable the service to operate more effectively in the state.
Igwe said the training would strengthen operational capacity and intelligence efficiency across Nigeria, adding that the service continues to play a key role in ensuring community safety and security, especially during high-risk periods such as festive seasons.
