The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has commended the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency, Oke Nze Ginger Onwusibe, for what he described as a far-reaching empowerment programme impacting constituents across diverse sectors.
Speaking at a well-attended event on Saturday, February 14, 2026, Abbas represented by the Member for Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, Chinedu Ogah commended Onwusibe as a “dedicated and result-driven legislator” committed to delivering tangible democratic dividends at the grassroots.
Abbas noted that the scale and inclusiveness of the empowerment initiative underscored the lawmaker’s responsiveness to the socio-economic needs of his constituents.
He urged the Executive Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, to sustain institutional support for such interventions, stressing that collaboration between the executive and legislative arms remains vital to accelerating development.
The Speaker’s representative further advised that the programme be expanded to accommodate more beneficiaries, irrespective of political affiliation, in order to deepen social inclusion and strengthen participatory governance.
Addressing beneficiaries, Ogah congratulated them on the opportunities provided and encouraged prudent utilisation of the resources to enhance productivity and community growth.
He also used the occasion to emphasise the importance of civic responsibility, calling on eligible citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The empowerment of citizens must go hand in hand with active civic participation,” he said, urging residents to position themselves as critical stakeholders in the democratic process.
The event drew prominent dignitaries, including the Abia State Governor, represented by his wife, Chief Dr. Mrs. Chioma Otti; members of the House of Representatives; members of the Abia State House of Assembly; and former Senator Darlington Nwokocha, alongside business and community leaders from across the zone.
