Barrister Chikadoli Nomeh, member representing Ezza North West State Constituency and Mr Victor Chukwu, Commissioner for Environment in Ebonyi State.
Stakeholders in Ezza North West State Constituency of Ezza North Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, have thrown their weight behind the incumbent lawmaker, Barr. Chikaodili Nomeh, endorsing his bid for re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came amid a growing political dispute in the constituency, as the stakeholders firmly rejected the purported adoption of the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Victor Chukwu, by a group they described as “faceless” and lacking legitimacy.
In a statement dated March 19 and titled “Disclaimer on the Purported Adoption of Hon. Victor Chukwu,” the stakeholders disowned the claim, insisting that no such endorsement was reached through any recognized consultative process within the constituency.
The statement, jointly signed by Chief John Nwefuru, Felix Nwaji, Nwafor Basil, Celestine Obinna Nubo, Chikezie Nwuzor and Lovina Egbe, described the group behind Chukwu’s alleged adoption as “non-existent” and urged the public to disregard the claim.
They argued that political equity and the constituency’s zoning arrangement favour the continued representation of Ogboji Ward, where Nomeh hails from, noting that Oriuzor Ward, Chukwu’s base has held the seat for a cumulative 16 years, including his two consecutive terms between 2015 and 2023.
According to the stakeholders, Nomeh’s performance in office has been satisfactory, citing his leadership style and constituency engagement as reasons for their continued support.
They further warned those allegedly responsible for circulating the endorsement claim to retract it from all media platforms or risk legal action.
The stakeholders also called on constituents to remain united and supportive of the current administration in the state, expressing confidence in Nomeh’s ability to sustain effective representation.
Our correspondent reports that the development has highlighted early political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with zoning considerations and competing interests already shaping the contest in Ezza North West constituency.
